Privacy Policy — GBP Audit Bot
Effective date: July 10, 2026
Publisher: Driveway Digital (drivewaydigital.com)
GBP Audit Bot is a Chrome extension that audits publicly visible Google Business Profile listings on Google Maps and Google Search. This policy describes exactly what the extension does with data — which is very little.
What the extension reads
When you click "Audit this profile," the extension reads information that is publicly visible on the Google Maps or Google Search page you are viewing: business name, category, star rating, review counts and review timestamps, photo counts, hours, and similar public listing details. It does not access private data, does not log into anything, and does not read any page other than the one you asked it to audit.
What is stored, and where
Audit results (business name, scores, and the public listing details above) are stored locally on your computer using Chrome's extension storage, so you can revisit and compare your last 10 audits. This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.
The one thing we collect: your email, if you choose to give it
The full audit is always visible without providing anything. If you voluntarily enter your email address to receive the report as a PDF, the extension sends the following to a webhook we operate (a Google Apps Script connected to a private Google Sheet):
- your email address
- the name of the business you audited
- the audit score
- the Maps URL of the listing
- a timestamp
We use this to send you the report and, only if you ask for one, to follow up about a full audit. We do not add you to automated email sequences, do not sell or share your email with anyone, and will delete it on request — email us at the address on drivewaydigital.com.
If you never submit your email, nothing is ever transmitted anywhere.
What we don't do
- No analytics or tracking of any kind
- No cookies
- No selling, renting, or sharing of data with third parties
- No collection of browsing history — the extension only activates on Google Maps/Search pages, and only acts when you click the audit button
- No remote code — everything the extension runs ships inside the extension package
Permissions, in plain English
- Side panel / storage — show the report panel and save your audit history locally
- Active tab / scripting — read the business listing on the tab you're viewing, only when you click "Audit this profile"
- Host access to google.com/maps.google.com — the audit only works on Google's business listing pages
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's changelog.
